LAUREL RACING NEWS Dr. H. J. McCarthy unsexed tho brown colt Uncle Dud for Charlie Douglas. Jockey G. Roose was an arrival from New York He will ride here as a free lance. Jewell V. D. changed owners after Rejection beat her on Saturday when she was claimed by Max Hirsch for ,300. Jockey J. E. Smallwood, who has been ill for several days, was at the track today. It was his first appearance in over a week. J. G. Wagnon sold to Richard Pending on Saturday the two-year-old Bashdon by Ber-rildon from Queen Bashti. Pending will make a steeplechaser of the colt. W. J. Salmon purchased the three-year-old Charlton and turned him over to Silas "Veltch, who will school him through the field with the idea of making a steeplechaser of him. F. J. Gilroy, in whose name and colors that good plater Mayor House runs, was a visitor from Buffalo. Ho will remain here a couple of days. He received word from his trainer George Sherman that tho latter had shipped his stable from Reno to Tanforan. Starter Harry Morrissey stated that immediately following the running of the match race on Saturday at Belmont Park ho would leave for California to be on hand for the opening of the Tanforan meeting, where he has been engaged to do the starting.
