CARD OF ALL PURSES Jamaicas Program Not One to Enthuse Over Greatly. Fly by Day Wins From Nantokah in the Main Race of the Day Fabian First. NEW YORK, N. Y., Oct 15. It was a day of overnight purses that was offered by tho Metropolitan Jockey Club at Jamaica today, but some good racing resulted and there was a goodly crowd on hand. The weather was chill and conditions none too comfortable. The nearest approach to a feature was the Cosmopolitan Handicap, at three-quarters, for fillies and mares of all ages. This fell to H. P. Whitneys Fly by Day, with Sam Willets Nantokah running to second place and the Greentree Stables Pandowdy saving third place from Humorette, the only two-year-old in the race. In another race for all-aged maidens the two-year-olds were more successful when four of them beat the older horses that raced Its five and a half furlongs distance. In the Cosmopolitan Handicap Fly by Day and Nantokah cut out all the running, with Pandowdy in third place. Before the stretch was reached Fly by Day had Nantokah beaten and drew out Into a good lead. Sande drove Pandowdy vigorously in the stretch racing, but she could not catch Nantokah. Humorette and Mary Patricia were the only other starters and both were outrun all the way. There was a bit of excitement before the running of the five and a half furlongs dash for maidens when F. E. Browns Aragon unseated Sande while on his way to the post and ran away two miles before he was caught by "Red Coat" Murray. JUVENILES TO THE FORE. This race resulted in a victory for the Riviera Stables two-year-old Fabian and it marked the first time this year in New York that a two-year-old has beaten older horses. It was a two-year-old that was second and also a two-year-old that ran third, when these positions were filled by Feysun and Suncar. In fact, another two-year-old was fourth, in Comic Artist, then came a three-year-old in Stony Point There was a bit of a mixup at the start and Fabian, beginning from the outside, was lucky enough to escape interference, and La-verne Fator rushed him into a good early lead. Once there he never left the result in doubt Feysun and Suncar chased after him and there really was no change in the positions all the way, though at the end Comic Artist was closing up with a great rush. Stony Point was one of the unfortunates at the start and never did have a fair racing chance, while Sande pulled Aragon up fight after the start and only cantered him after the others. This victory made it two in a row for Laverne Fator, for he also rode Sylvan Spring in the second race. Two-year-old selling platers met in a five-eighths dash as the opening race and it resulted in a good finish when T. C. Sawyers Belcross was the winner in the final strides from Clarence Buxtons Hilarity, while the Quincy Stables Deputy beat Ebony Belle for third place. It was Ebony Belle, Bel-cross and Hilarity that was the order for most of the running and at the head of the stretch Hilarity drew out from the others. She then seemed all over the winner until inside the final eighth, where she tired and Belcross, finishing with a rush on the outside, caught her to win by a head. Ebony Belle tired badly when the final pinch came and Deputy outgamed her easily. GOING TO TANFORAJT. The horses of the Oalc Ridge Stable that will be raced at the Tanforan meeting are Runviso, All Over, Cano and Plough Boy. There are fourteen horses left in the establishment and five of them are home-bred yearlings. Runelise, the sister to Morvich, has been retired to the farm and will join the brood mares there, while Sakah has been turned out W. H. Fizer will train Edward Arlingtons recent purchase Statellite, and he will be raced, at New Orleans next winter. Harry Unna has decided to leave Little Chief in New York until October 28 before shipping him to California. He will fill a stake engagement at Empire City on October. J. A. Coburn has changed his plans and will not ship hi3 horses to Tanforan before Thursday, but will leave himself on Wednesday. A. J. Contento claimed Sylvan Spring out of the second race for ,000.
