LATOMAS GREAT MEETING Nearly Half Million Dollars Distributed in Prizes. C Wiedemann aad Ib Memoriam Largest Winners H. P. Headier and Chacolet Close Second Farke Biding: Star. : Featured by the 0,000 Latonia Championship Stakes, which brought together Zev and My Own and resulted in both going down to defeat before the prowess of In Memoriam, the Latonia fall meeting of 1923 came to an end Saturday, November 3, with the largest crowd in its history in attendance. In every way the meeting was a success. The Kentucky Jockey Club distributed also a half million dollars to be exact, 98,416 in stakes and purses. There were thirty-one days of racing and 217 races decided, the daily average distribution amounting to 116,077. Carl "Wiedemann was the largest money winner of the meeting, due to In Memoriams great victory. H. P. Headley, by virute of the wonderful achievements of his good mare Chacolet, was a close second, with J. S. "Ward third on the list The Audley Farm Stable met with marked success, winning more races and finishing second and third more often than all the others, though earning less than the first three mentioned above in a monetary way. , Iu Memoriam tops the list of the money-winning horses, with Chacolet a close second. The crack Wise Counsellor is third. The riding of I. Parke was one of the sensational features of the meeting and this young apprentice simply ran away with the saddle honors, having forty-four winners to the twenty-five to the credit of L. McDermott, his nearest rival. The owners who won ,000 or more each follow : Owner. 1st. 2d. 3d. Amt. Wiedemann. O. 4 5 2 0,893 Headley. H. P 5 3 1 68.067 Ward, J.
