I PAPYRUS NEW OWNER LONDON, England, Nov. 5. Papyrus, Ben Irishs colt, which, after winning the famous Epsom Derby, travelled to defeat behind Zev in the 00,000 International race, has a new owner, according to a story published by the Evening News today. J. P. Hornung, a millionaire sugar merchant, has purchased the colt from Irish. The price paid is not known, but it is expected that the money transaction was one of the largest in the history of the turf. J. B. Joel, prominent English sportsman, offered 00,-000 for Papyrus, but his offer was refused. The sale to Hornung refutes a story widely circulated in America at the time Papyrus was in training for his race with Zev, that the Epsom Derby winner was to be sold in America. American reports recently stated that Montfort Jones, well-known American breeder, was negotiating by cable for the purchase of Papyrus.
