HAVANAS OPENING PROGRAM Good Card Listed for Nov. 29 Seven Races on Saturday and Sunday, Six on Other Days. The program book for the first nine days of the one hundred or more days of racing at Havana, beginning Thanksgiving Day, November 29, has been issued and distributed among the horsemen racing in Kentucky and Maryland. It is in keeping with the recent announcement that the purses will range from 00 upward. For the first day there are two 00 purses, three of 00, and the Thanksgiving Handicap of ,200. "W. H. Shelley, the racing secretary, who will also act as one of the judges, compiled the book and has used all the skill acquired by years of experience in this class of work to provide a particularly attractive program. The first race each day will begin at 2:30 p. m. and six races will be run daily, except Saturday and Sunday, when an additional race will be carded. As in former years there will be no racing on Monday, that being the off day, while, of course, as is the custom in all Latin countries, Sunday will be the big day of the week. There will be no racing on Friday, December 7, as that will be General Maceo Memorial day and one of general mourning throughout Cuba. The inaugural program for Thursday, November 29, Thanksgiving Day, is here presented: FIRST DAY, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 29. FIRST RACE Purse 1923.sh00. For three-year-olds and upward. Claiming. ,000 scale. One pound for each 00 to 00. Five and Half Furlongs. SECOND RACE Purse 00. For two-year-olds. Weight, 115 pounds. Winners of ,500. to carry three pounds extra. Non-winners of three races since May 12 allowed four pounds; two races since then, seven pounds; two races at any time, ten pounds. Selling or claiming races not to be considered in this race. Maidcus allowed twelve pounds. Five-eighths Mile. THIRD RACE Purse 00. For all ages. Two-year-olds, 102 pounds; three-year-olds, 117 pounds; others, 122 pounds. Non-winners of ,000 three times since May- 12 allowed three pounds; ,000 since then, six pounds; three times since June 1, eight pounds; ,600 since May C, 1922, or 00 twice since September 16, 1923, twelve pounds; two races in 1922-23, fifteen pounds.
