i i t i i a 1 r i i WHERES THE RAIL BIRDS? It was evidently her first attendance at the races. And it was also evident that she held the chief interest in the mind of the young gallant who accompanied her. She wanted to know all about it, from the racing sheets to the whys and wherefores of the barrier. The young man answered all her questions with kindly intent, and showed expert knowledge at that. Even when she asked "when does the bell ring?" he never batted an eye. But when she said, after looking eagerly into the sky, "where are the rail birds?" the y. m. had to join in the laugh that came from those around.
