RUMORED KENTUCKY DATES Derby Day Said To Be Slated for Saturday, May 17. Latonia Meeting May Run From June 3 to July 5 Lexington Ten Days Beginning April 2G. LOUISVILLE, Ky., Jan. 26. While official racing dates have not been given out by the Kentucky Stale Racing Commission, it is said by those in close connection with the Kentucky Jockey Club that the fiftieth Kentucky Derby will be run on Saturday, May 17, the second Saturday of the spring meeting at Churchill Downs, which will probably begin on Saturday, May 10, with the Clark Handicap as the feature of the opening days racing. Churchill Downs will ask for nineteen days this year, the same number of racing days as were had last year. The meeting will probably continue until May 30, Decoration Day, and the last Saturday in May. Latonia days probably will be from June 3 to July 5, inclusive, twenty-eight racing days. Whether the new track at Ashland will ask for early spring dates or seek dates during midsummer, after Latonia has concluded its meeting, has not been learned. Lexington will get its usual ten days, probably from Saturday, April 20, to Thursday, May S. This year marks the "golden" running of the Derby. Since Aristides won the first Kentucky Derby in 1S75 the race has been run every year without a break over the Churchill Downs course. The race this year promises to be of even more interest than any of the preceding oriea.
