CUBA ENCANTO quickly worked his way up on the outside into the lead in the first eighth and, saving ground when entering the stretch, finished gamely next to the inside rail. QUEEN MAZONIA closed a big gap and finished fast. ST. JUST also made up much ground and finished with a rush, WHIPPOORWILL and WM. OLDT tired. JACOBEAN finished close up. KENTMERE was prominent for live-eighths. MISS RANKIN closed a great gap. GLORY OF THE SEAS II. began slowly and worked her way up on the outside, but quit after racing to the leaders with a rush. The latter gained fast in the last sixteenth and was going fastest at the finish. HULLO showed the most early speed, but tired in the stretch. BLUE II ILL set the pace and raced FELION into defeat in the early running, then withstood the challenge of VULCAIN PAHIC at the head of the stretch and was bumped at the eighth post, but was drawing clear at the end.
