PLANS FOR TEXAS RACING Success of Dallas Meeting of Last Year Prompts Sportsmen to Extend Their Activities. NEW ORLEANS, La.. Feb. 14. W. H. Stratton, secretary of the State Fair of Texas at Dallas, and Dr. A. E. Flowers, manager of the racing department, arrived in the city today for a conference with Joseph A. Murphy. Mr. Stratton is on his way to the annual meeting of State Fairs at Chicago. Last fall racing Avas revived at the State Fair at Dallas when seven days of racing were gheit. Tremendous crowds welcomed the return of the thoroughbreds. It is proposed to give thirteen days of racing next fall and at the next session of the legislature in January a strong effort will be made to place racing under state control. Dallas, Houston, San Antonia and El Paso are all thriving cities on the direct path to Tanforan and Tijuana and fine race meetings can be given at all these points. They will also make important cogs in the new proposed western turf governing boay. A central goAernment, staffs of competent officials, an equitable adjustment of dates, uniform licenses for jockeys and trainers are the things proposed.
