LATEST FRENCH TURF NEWS Two Crack Three -year-olds in G. Sterns Stable Filibert de Savoie May Go to Ascot. BY SPECIAL, CORRESPONDENCE. Two three-year-olds in G. Sterns stable, if the hopes of their connections arc realized, are expectd to play a part in this years big events. Stern, one of the leading jockeys of the country in his time, is now a leading trainer and has charge of the stable of M. Boussac, the owner of the wayward Ramus, which ran in England last year. Clavicres and Ileldifann, the two horses referred to, belong, however, to Mile. Fanny Heldy, the opera star, who, during her first season, won several important two-year-old races. Cla-vieres, a powerful, well-built colt, won the Reves dOr and the Grand Criterium. but, just as it was thought he was establishing a leading position, he suffered a defeat by Scaramouche, which was as unexpected as it was complete, for only a Aveek earlier Cla-vieres had finished lengths in front of his conqueror. However, it is reported that the colt is wintering well and it is expected that he will appear in public early in the season. Ileldifann is a fine-lookng filly, and, as can be observed, has been named after her mistress Another promising filly in Sterns stable, bo: longing to M. Boussac, is Gracilite, but she had only one outing last year, and, although she won the race in a big field as well as one could wish, it is difficult to estimate her leal worth from that result. One of the most impressive fillies as a two-year-old was Marquis de San Miguels Ros-ina, which won several races in succession. She has a fine turn of speed, for she has won most of her races by coming out in the last hundred yards and then rapidly outpacing the others. She has yet to meet Ileldifann and Gracilite, but she beat with case Carnation, a filly which had a consistently good le-cord as a two-year-old. Rosina is trained by II. Count, and it is probable that Count will be satisfied if the same measure of success which attended his efforts last year favors him this year. His stable gained seventy-two victories and the prize money amounted to over two million francs, which, of course, enabled him to liead the list of winning trainers. One of the principal horses in his stable is M. C. Ranuccis Filibert de Savoie, the winner of last years Grand Prix, which, it is stated, may in all probability go to Ascot this year. One of the best stables, although one of the newest, is that of the Aga Khan, who is on the eve of his third season in France. His trainer is W Duke, formerly connected with Vanderbilts" stable, and he has paid big prices for high-class yearlings.
