j . I , i I I VISITORS AT HERZ FARM A. J. Joyner and T. J. Healey Look Over Horses at .Short Grass Foals by Imported Mares. LEXINGTON, Ky., Feb. 23. Messrs. A. J. Joyner and Thomas J. Healey, noted New York trainers, the former employed by George D. Widener and the latter employed by Messrs. R. T. Wilson and Walter J. Salmon, were visitors today at Short Grass Stud Farm and inspected the thoroughbreds that are to be sold there next Friday. Emil Herz this afternoon reported the arrival of a chestnut colt foal by Glencairn, from Vena Fair, the property of Joseph Mar-rone of New York. Marrone, who was here this week, has returned to his home in New York-. In response to an inquiry from a Baltimore man whether or not he would sell privately several of the Short Grass Stud Farm marcs, Emil Herz wired today that nothing is for tale privately, but all will be sold publicly next Friday and without reserve. Postmark, by Star Shoot, a mare that August Belmont bought last year from John E. Madden, has a bay filly by Iluon. Messrs. "Coley" Madden and John Shaughnessy of New York, are here as guests of Colonel riiil T. Chinn and have been busy for a couple of days inspecting the horses at Himyar Stud, Hinata Farm and Old Hickory Farm. Royal Union, by John o Gaunt, one of th marcs Tom B. Young brought over from England for the account of Coldstream Farm, has a grey filly by Grey Fox II. Two imported mares at Lucas B. Combs farm have recently foaled. Brace Up, by St. Amant, has a chestnut colt by Peter Quince, and Favilla, by Desmond, has a brown filly by Orpheus, son of Orby. T. B. .lenkinson, of Alberta, Canada, pres-I ident of the Alberta Thoroughbred Breeders Association, acting for his organization, this week purchased the stallion Blond Buddy, by Cunard, dam May Bird, by Thrush, from AV. C. Goodloe. George D. Wideners Farce, a French mare, has a bay filly by Sweeper II.
