Won easily; second and third driving. FLAME passed FLASH OF STEEL after racing a half and, forging to the front, drew clear after turning for heme and won going away. FLEA made a game finish and outstayed PIF JR. The latter closed a big gap from a slow beginning. MINT JULEP also began slowly and made up much ground through the final quarter. DAN HOGAN finished with a rush and would have won in another stride. BOBBY ALLEN made a threatening challenge when an eighth cut, then tired. MARGARET WHITE broke away pulling up, then closed a big gap. MOUNTAINEER and CUBA showed speed, but failed to stay. TENNILEE ran well. MISS NANTURA tired in the final eighth after setting and forcing the pace. CADMUS, as usual, showed brief early speed. MAY BRUEN, away fast, was taken back while rounding the far turn, then came fast when called on and, racing into the lead midway of the stretch, gamely withstood the belated challenge of MART BUNCH. The latter closed a gap with a rush and was rapidly overhauling the winner at the end. DE LAND raced forwardly and persistently and finished gamely while tiring. DAN ARVI, after showing in front momentarily when passing the paddock, tired and gave way. HARRIGAN3 HEIU made up ground. C. A. COMISKEY quit. HILDUR was under restraint during the early running, but when called on failed to respond with his expected rush. Overweight John S. Reardon, 3 pounds.
