John Hastings is preparing one of the largest jumping stables in this part of the country at Belmont Park for the coming season of cross-country racing. There are seven horses in this string and four of them are subscription jumpers. These horses, Kerry Blue, Colibri VII., Beau Brummel and Djahan Ghir, will all be eligible for the series of special races, purses for which will be drawn from the surplus subscription funds. This stable also includes Bar Gold, the five-year-old son of Son-in-Law and Baron-da, which came to this country as a companion for Papyrus last fall. The Somerset Stable acquired Bar Gold after he had finished his work of acting as a trial horse for the Derby winner in his preparation for the International race with Zev. - BAR GOLD SCHOOLED. Hastings has been schooling Bar Gold through the field and the horse has shown an aptitude for this branch of the sport.
