FAIR LATONIA DAILY TURF GOSSIP AT NOTED KENTUCKY TRACK C Bascomp Slemp, secretary to President CooUdge, and Senator Richard P. Ernst were distinguished visitors at Latonia during the afternoon and enjoyed the sport immensely. Itockminister and Surf Rider, two of the Audley Farm Stables mainstays last year, and which have not started this year, arc going along satisfactorily in their training, and are expected to race shortly. Jockeys D. Mergler and H. Hay, u*rder contract to S. N. Holman, have been ordered to report to the stables second division, now racing in Canada, and will take their departures Thursday night. General Manager J. O. Keene of the Ashland track, while here Wednesday, made it known that every member of the Thoroughbred Horse Association in good standing will be permitted through the gates by displaying his button. William Snyder, who dispatched the fields at Latonia for the first fifteen days, was relieved today by William Hamilton, who will preside at the barrier for the remainder of the meeting. Snyder took Hamiltons place on the ground as one of the assistant starters. Andrew G. Leonard, who served as the presiding official at the recent Akron, Ohio, meeting, was among the visitors to witness Alchemys performance. The filly is owned by his niece, Miss Mary G. Leonard, who races under the nom de course of the New-tondale Stable. Louis Tauber departed Thursday night for New York, where he will remain briefly before going to Saratoga to assume charge of breaking the yearlings owned by August Belmont. "Make Up, which he has been training, has been turned over to the care of P. Coyne. Jockeys D. Hurn and G. Ellis were each given a suspension of three days by starter Snyder for disobedience at the post Wednesday. Hums offense was committed in the third race, while Ellis violated the rules in the sixth. Ellis will spend his enforced vacation in Chicago, and departed this morning for that city. ♦ .
