WOODBINE TURF NOTES TORONTO, Ont, Sept 29. H. Boyle claimed Arragosa from "W. M. Cain for ,750. Joo McLennan distributed books of the Laurel meeting. J. McMillen is an arrival from his home in Cleveland. J. Hefferin sold Playful and Mazo, Canadian-bred . two-year-olds, to T. Murphy and Carry On to "W. J. Foley. P. Colahan came from Montreal to see Cavendish carry his colors in the steeplechase. J. Samuels arrived from Detroit to see Marie Battner carry his colors in the opening race. Hallucination "will he campaigned in Maryland this autumn with the stable of Commander J. K. Ti. Ross. King Solomons Seal pulled up lame in a recent work and probably will not meet his stake engagements here. B. Haynes and A. Howard, who were injured in the steeplechase Saturday, are doing well. Haynes suffered a broken rib and Howard a broken collarbone. Dave Boyle will return to his home in Woodstock, OnL, at the conclusion of the meeting there to await the opening at Tijuana where he will winter. Harry Morrissey received condition books for the racing at Richmond Va., from October 7 to 10. Purses of 00, 00 and 00 will be given. Mr. Morrissey will do the starting at this meeting, which is run in conjunction with the Virginia State Fair. James P. Ross is racing secretary. The Joaquin Stable today bought the contract on C. Hooper from B. Smith for ,500. The lad is a native of Windsor, Ont. His father is an alderman there. The boy is pronounced a real prospect by good judges. He will leave for New York with the stable on Wednesday night.
