INTERNATIONAL GALLOPS J m Princess Doreen Goes 1 Miles in 2:05, Chilhowee and Ladkin Also Working Impressively, f LATONIA, Ky., Oct 4 Fast and ambitious gallops were indulged in by a number of International Special candidates, which were let down Saturday morning for the kind or trials that delight their trainers and give the work -watchers food for reflection. Three of the candidates. Princess Doreen, Ladkin and Chilhowee, were sent the full one mile and a quarter, the distance they will have to traverse in the special. From a time standpoint the showing of Princess Doreen was the most striking of , the three. This filly, which is the only one of her sex to contest in the great race, went the mile and a quarter in 2 :05. The track record is 2:02. The filly with Stutts up was rated for the first mile which she covered in 1 :40. Then Stutts unloosened his reins and the daughter of Spanish Prince II fairly flew for the remaining quarter, which she ran in :24. The final eighth she galloped in twelve seconds. The showing of Chilhowee was hardly less impressive than that of the Audley Farm filly. Gallaher Brothers speedy colt went the mile and a quarter in 2 :06,. covering, the first mile in 1:38. He began from the stand and finished at the three-quarter post and the fact that he had to go around two turns in the final quarter, accounted lor his diminished speed in the final period. Ladkin was given his first "trial since his advent here and his showing was all that could bo desired. With jockey Cliff Gordon up, the Belmont colt galloped the mile and a quarter in 2 :0D. He was under restraint for the first mile which he traversed in 1 :44. In the last quarter Gordon let him have his head and the colt bounded forward and covered the last quarter in :25 flat. Epinard was also out for work but nothing out of the ordinary was demanded by trainer Leigh. Everett Haynes, who arrived Friday, was up on the French champion and I he did not extend him any during the sharp canter of three-quarters which was covered in 1:17. Altawood, the Latonia Cup winner, showed up well when he. ran the mile in 1 :42 and the one mile and an eighth in 1:56.
