HAYNES TO RIDE EPINARD Dispells Rumors That He Would Be Replaced By Some Other Jockey. LATONIA, Ky., Oct 4. Rumors that Everett Haynes may be displaced on Epinard in favor of some other jockey in the International Special, were dispelled this afternoon by Haynes who said that he would be astride Epinard in his start next Saturday. When questioned with regards to Epinards failure in the last special at Aqueduct, Haynes said: "Epinard had no excuses. He was not interefered with as some think he was. I took him back because Ladkin and Wise Counsellor were forcing a terrific pace and I wanted Epinard to benefit by it He came with a great rush in the final struggle and just missed getting up." Haynes regarded Epinard last year as the equal of Man o War, and by far the best racer in all Europe. He still regards him as a great horse, but is of the opinion that he is not as good as he was last year. The rider still thinks he will win the mile and a quarter International Special No. 3.
