SCRUTINIZING ALL CLAIMS LOUISVILLE, Ky., Oct 25. M. F. Shapoff, owner, was notified by the stewards that he would be held responsible for the running of any of his horses which were started in a condition unfit to race. He therefore n;ratched Compact in the second race, which the stewards believed was being used for claiming purposes only. Compact was beaten over sixty lengths in her last race, her owner claiming Maximaneh. The stewards are closely scrutinizing all claims and will hold responsible any owner who runs an unfit horse solely for claiming purposes.
