Won handily; second and third driving. SAINT SAVIN was outrun for the first mile, but raced into close up contention in the final turn of the field and passed LIEUTENANT SEAS in the final quarter to win going away. The latter jumped cleanly and led to the last half, but fired when put to a drive. COURTEOUS showed speed and jumped well, but tired in the last quarter. FAIR SAND set a fast pace, but tired near the end. VOLANTE followed the leader closest to the stretch and also tired after racing into second place at the eighth post. LADDIE BUCK and SNOWDROP tired. HURRY INN headed CONTRACT near the end, but could not withstand the challenge of the winner and pulled up decidedly lame. CONTRACT showed the most speed under restraint, but tired near the end. SARAZEN raced- under slight restraint for the first mile and, gradually improving his position on the backstretch. passed SUN FLAG in the final eighth, but was tiring at the end and just lasted long enough to withstand RUSTICS rush. The latter was last until in the homestretch, then closed s:n immense gap and, finishing with a great rush, almost got up to win. AGA KIIAN was hard ridden all of the last three-eighths, but began tiring in the last sixteenth. SUN FLAG showed remarkable speed in fast pact-making and tired in the last eighth.
