FOR GOLDEN ROD HANDICAP Weight Announced for Closing Day, Feature of Churchill Downs Meeting. LOUISVILLE, Ky., Nov. 3. In the closing day feature of the Churchill Downs Fall Meeting, Saturday, November 8, the Golden Rod Handicap with ,000 added, has been provided. It is a race for two-year-olds at seven-eighths of a mile. First run in 1910, is has been continued each year since and from a modest monetary beginning, now is well "worth winning. Helen Barbee, Kaiser, Gowell, Edith W.. Vogue, Milestone, Fan G., Fern Handley and Legal were the early winners in the order named and before the value was increased to its present figure. Since being raised to ,000 added, the winners have been Busy Signal, Rangoon, Jeanne Bowdre, Great Luck and Glide. For Saturdays race Captain Hal is assigned the post of honors with 127 pounds. Lee O. Cotner and Pas Seul follow, each with 123 pounds. Kentucky Cardinal is listed at 122, then Brown Sugar, Blue Warbler and Sunsard come next, each with 120 pounds.
