DAY OF EXCITING FINISHES Mondays Program at Columbus Furnishes Fine Sport Main Race to Metal. COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 3. After being outpaced during the early stages, S. Hessel-tines Metal raced all around his opponents and dreAV away into an easy victory in thand stretch of the seAenth and feature race at Beulah Park this afternoon. Asaph, prominent throughout, held the others safe. Wildcat finished fast and outgamed the pacemaker. Queen Bess, for third place. Pretext and Bemorecareful had the speed of opponents at all stages of the other races, over a distance of ground, but the latter had little to spare at the end. Exciting finishes marked several of the races, Balefull and Double Shot only got home by narrow margins, after being outrun to the stretch head. Star Girl was neAer in trouble in the curtain raiser. Kinsman also drew away to a handy victory in the last quarter of the second race. Jockey W. Taylor was set down for the remainder of tho meeting for rough riding in tho fourth race. B. F. McClain, Jr., claimed Blanche Mac for ,200 out of the sixth race. C. E. Davidson took Follow Me for 00 out of the second race Aia. the claiming route. The attendance was above the average for midweek day, "Ladies Day" being responsible for a large turnout of the fair sex. Word reached here today from Youngs-toAvn, Ohio, that jockeys Punshon and Cas-serolla, Avho Avere seriously injured at the Southern Park meeting in a fall, are considered out of danger by hospital authorities. Trainer Olin Johnson has fired five of his string, including Mercutio and Dulcy Lou. Bemorecareful, Avhich fell lame during the running of the fifth race, Avas claimed by J. B. McGinn for 00. In Doubt raced in the colors of his new owner, N. B. DaAis, today.
