EMIL HERZ GOES ABROAD Will Purchase Number of Horses in Europe Now Sole Owner of Short Grass Stud. NEW YORK, N. Y., Dec. 3. Emil Herz, proprietor of the Short Grass Stud in Kentucky, sailed for Europe yesterday to join his wife and son for a brief holiday. While abroad Mr. Herz will purchase some horses to carry his colors on American tracks next year. Before sailing he visited the Jockey Club and registered anew the Short Grass Stud corporation. The corporation is owned entirely in the Herz name. J. Walter Lissen-berger and Joel Jacobs, former partners in the stud, sold their interests to Mr. Herz. When he took over the interests of his partners, two mortgages of ?50,000 each were placed on the property, one held by a Lexington bank, and the other by a Kentucky business man. Both mortgages were taken up last week. John Anderson at present is in charge of the Herz farm and breeding will be resumed next spring.
