FIRM FRIEND, after a rough race around the first turn, moved up in the good going through the back stretch and was waited with until in the stretch, then took the lead and won eased up. COEUR DE LION forced a good early pace and finished gamely. CANO was much used in pacemaking and tired after entering the stretch. Won easily: second and third driving. nALU, at his best in the going, quickly assumed command and, well rated in front, was never seriously menaced. WEDDING PRINCE followed the winners pace doggedly and, when straightening into the stretch, made a determined bid to wear him down; was easily best of the others. ZEALOT moved up rapidly after going a half iiinniiig out in the good going and appeared a dangerous contender entering the stretch, but tired badly thereafter. WYNNEWOOD showed more speed than usual, but began dropping back on the last turn, then came again and would have been third with a bit further to go. GUNSIGHT was claimed by C. Iiby for ,800. SASPER, from a slow start, moved up with a rush leaving the back stretch, was taken wide 1 in the best going and easily overhauled the leaders, moving to the front and, entering the stretch, drew 1 away to w.n as he pleased. SKOKI began well, set a good pace, but was no match for the winner, I though hanging on well through the stretch. MADAM AENNIE, away none too well, was a follower until , leaving the three-eighths post, where she began to gain rapidly and was fast wearing down SKOKI. BRANDEIS forced a good pace, but tired in the final quarter. PONIMOI quit after running a good half AOORGOLD quit after going a half. Scratched 84507 Lamstedt, 304; 85552 Sweet Note, 103.
