HAVRE MEETING NEAR Bright Outlook for Wonderfully Successful Spring Meeting. ♦ Stars in the Harford Handicap, ,000 Added Feature of Opening Day Next Wednesday. HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., April 9.— Probably never before in the history of the picturesque Havre de Grace race course are prospects brighter for a wonderfully successful spring meeting than this year. There are more horses of the better grade being prepared for this meeting than has been the , case in previous years. Quite a number of the more pretentious racing establishments that are not represented at Bowie will get into action here and as a consequence the sport should be on a much higher plane. The large attendance at Rowie and the great enthusiasm displayed speaks well for a banner year of racing at Maryland. The Havre meeting opens next Wednesday and the inaugural feature is the Harford Handicap, with ,000 added, f r three-year-olds and over at three-quarters. H. P. Whitney has named nine for this race and is sure to have one or two of his representatives carry his popular silks in it. His nominations include the superb Ally Mother Goose, Swinging, Candy Kid. Whiskalong, Courageous, The Bat, Backbone, Coronation and Noah. W. S. Kilmer has entered four of his cracks, including Sunny Man, considered a formidable Preakness and Kentucky Derby eligible. The gallant Sarazen is also among th i entries for this feature, but it is not thought likely that he will be here for the race, as it has been intimated that he will be reserved for the opening of the New York season. There are enough high-class horses sufficiently advanced in training to provide* an excellent field for this inaugural stake attraction of the meeting. OTHER STAKE FEATURES. For the first Saturday the Philadelphia Handicap with ,000 added for three-year-olds and over, at a mile and a sixteenth, is tho chief offering and a tremendous crowd is expected to witness its decision. The Aberdeen Stakes with 0,000 added for two-year-olds, is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, while the closing day feature of April 29 will be the 0,000 added Chesapeake Stakes for three-year-olds, considered in the nature of a trial for the Preakness. The first steeplechasing of the year will be inaugurated at Havre, quite a few races through the field being included in the program.
