I HAVRE DE GRACE NOTES HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., April 18. Thomas Gorman, secretary of the Con-naupht Park Jockey Club, was a visitor of the day, interesting horsemen in that Cana. dian racing. James Rowe. Sr.. came over from the Hrookdale Farm to look over the Harry Payne* Whitney racers here. He returned to the farm at the conclusion of the afternoons sport. Jockey F. Smallwood, under contract to R. I. Miller, was taken ill with appendicitis and was removed to the local sanitarium to he operated on. I r. Carroll Mitchell applied the firing irons to Belle Amies ankles this morning. He will make a trip over to James Arthurs Iong Gr.-en Valley Farm tomorrow to look over Hughie, which has been turned out for the summer. T. R Manuel, agent for the "Wiedemann stable, returned to lxuisvillc tonight to look over the division of the stable that was shipped from Miami to the Kentucky coursĀ«. Mr. Wiedemann will accompany him on his return to Maryland to witness In Memoriami race in the Dixie Handicap. W. R. Woolatt. the moving spirit in this Devonshire course, after spending several days here, returned to Windsor. There is some talk of Mr. Woolatt managing the meeting to be given at the New Thistledown track in Cleveland this summer. R. Carter claimed Drumbeat out of the fifth race for 83,500. T. H. Wilson took Harlan out of the same running for ,000. J. Doyle, who wintered his stable at the Timonium course, is here with several of his horses, which include Strut Miss Dizzie, Wine Jug, Invigorator, Stevens and Rechabite. Tom McCoomb, a two-year-old in the stable has been fired and turned out at the James Arthur farm for the summer. Edward Rrennan and Mortimer Mahoney were visitors. They are here looking after details of the opening at limlico. Mr. Ma-honeys mission is in connection with the mutuel department while Mr. Brennan was taking applications from the horsemen for stabling at the Hilltop course.
