Twenty Years Ago Today Chief Turf Events of April 19, 1905 Racing at Aqueduct, Pimlico, Memphis, San Francisco, Union Park and Fair Grounds at St. Louis. Rumors have it that Barney Schreiber will cast his lot with the "outlaw" American Turf Association. He plans to race at Kansas City. With II Dottore winning the sixth race easily, the New Memphis Jockey Clubs spring meeting of twenty-one days closed at Montgomery Park this afternoon. The daily attendance was large and the meeting was generally voted a success. Starter Mars Cassidy is sending the horses away from the barrier at Aqueduct strictly in accordance with the instructions of The Jockey Club stewards. The stewards permit him to walk the horses in a line toward the gate, but he is required to make the fields stop momentarily before the springing of the barrier.
