♦ ■ — KENTUCKY CARDINAL WORKS LEXINGTON*. Ky., May 1.— Kentucky Cardinal, recently purchased by G. F. Croissant, was worked one mile after the third race. He performed impressively, being apparently well in hand and covered the distance in 1 :44%. W. Pool, who rode him, kept him in the middle of the track where the going was firmer. The fractions were as follows: Quarter :25%, half-mile :50%, three-quarters in 1 :16%. The final quarter, partly down hill, was covered in :28Vs. He was well under restraint though and had he been urged probably could have worked in 1:43. Owner Croissant, who witnessed the trial. was well satislied with it and stated that the colt would be shipped to Churchill Downs shortly where be will be started in a race prior to the Derby. Mr. Croissant left tonight for Chicago where he will remain for some time before going to Louisville. »
