— ~» E.R.BRADLEYSCOLORSL Carried Successfully at Lexington By Blue Warbler ♦ Crack Fillys Successful Debut as a Three-Year-Old — Cold and a Bad Track. LEXINGTON, Ky., May 1.— E. R. Bradleys Idle Hour Farm-bred Blue Warbler accounted for the feature race carded at the Kentucky Association track for its day of racing. Blue Warbler won by a short half length over Buttress with Rothermel in third place. Five fillies answered the call over the mile distance with Blue Warbler, though it was her initial racing appearance as a three-year-old, a pronounced favorite. She was , away well and Hum at once took her into I the lead with Bassorah and Rothermel closest in pursuit. Buttress, which had much | attention also, was kept in last place and also raced wide. Blue Warbler continued to show the way and in the stretch drew out decisively after shaking off her closest followers. Buttress at this juncture moved up determinedly and it forced Hum to apply the whip several times to Blue Warbler to keep her at her task. She held on gamely during the last sixteenth and won by a short half length, Buttress beating Rothermel without great trouble for second place. NO OUTSTANDING FEATURE. Another difficult track and cold weather confronted the racing enthusiasts here. The adverse conditions also served to reduce the fields in the different races. The entire card, with the exception of the mile, was devoid of feature, four of the contests being over the Futurity Course, with ordinary ones contesting. While the racing was close and in several Instances spectacular, the results were un expected and favorites were downed in a majority of cases. The upsets of choices came with the initial race when Tinamou failed badly of getting a portion of the purse. The winner was Ada Blackjack, carrying W. E. Applegates colors. She led for the entire distance and won from My Destiny with George Groom in third place. The field raced fairly well grouped from the start but the winner held the others safe all the way. The next failure was Jack Knight. He was a pronounced favorite, but he had hard work landing in second place. Billy Witt, which had performed impressively in a preceding start, was the victor here. He drew away steadily during the last eighth from Jack Knight. Bitter displayed a high order of speed for three-eighths and might have been a factor but for bolting at the stretch turn. He was in the lead at the time that he ran out and It enabled Orator to take third place. BEST FINISH OF DAT. Realize and Waponoca staged the best finish of the afternoon, the Williams Bros. filly just lasting long enough to win by an inch. Red Seth finished in third place. Waponoca attracted the fancy of Mrs. G. W. Church and she claimed the Milam representative at a cost of ,S00. Harry Payne Whitneys Sandhurst, which already had a bracket to his credit at this meeting, won the fourth race, but it required an extra strong ride on the part of Fronk to land him winner. Ballot Brush was the one to press him hard in the last eighth and he held on well and was several lengths before Pure Dee. Ix rena Marcellia furnished the upset of the sixth race when she beat Huon Pine and Marvin May. The dosing race fell to Rib Grass, which raced in his host form and led for the entire trip to b«-at Tickler with Links in third place. The Audley Farm Stables horses now here will not l e .shipped to Churchill Downs until next Tuesday. Emil Herz returned today from New York where he had gone to attend the funeral of Joseph Mar rone.
