WHEELING OPENING TODAY Plenty Horses Available for Sixteen Days Meeting — List of Racing Officials. WHEELING, W. Va.. May 12.— The sixteen day meeting of the Wheeling Driving Club, a member of the United Circuit of Thoroughbred Racing, will be inaugurated at the Fair Grounds course Wednesday. Indications point to a successful meeting and the large entry list presages success. The management reports that there are a sufficient number of horses available to fill a program of seven races daily. Seventeen carloads of thoroughbreds from Akron have reached the course and joined by smaller shipments from Columbus and other points. Interest is keen for the sport here and in nearby cities of Ohio and West Virginia. The management predicts that the meeting will be one of the most largely attended in the history of the sport hereabouts. The following are the racing officials for the meeting : J. W. McGraw, presiding judge ; S. S. Bender, associate judge and racing secretary ; H. J. Kohl, clerk of scales ; W. M. Harr:s, starter; Robert Shelley, assistant racing secreary and paddock judge ; C. N. Hancher, timer.
