PIMLICO TURF NOTES BALTIMORE. Md., May 12. Edward Ercnnan, who has been appointed racing secretary of the Cumberland Fair Association, has opened offices in room 523 Equitable Building, Baltimore, where horsemen can file application for stalls, etc. The J Cumberland Fair will begin the circuit, which j comprises Timonium, Marlboro and Havre de Grace. Secretary Angevine of the Montreal Jockey Club returned to Canada last night. He was flattered by the way horsemen responded to the sakes offered by his club and predicts a wonderful meeting at Blue Bonnets this spring. F. W. Armstrong, who only recently returned from Egypt, was a visitor at Pimlico this afternoon. Mr. Armstrong has gathered together at his farm near Philadelphia a select band of broodmares and the two stallions Vindex and John P. Grier, which he purchased from Harry Payne Whitney. Mr. Armstrong, a keen student of breeding, has some choice matrons, among them a sister to Mad Hatter and that good race mare Jyntee. He has four Fair l lay mares and with the exception to the sister to Mad Hatter and Jyntee, all are young mares. John J. Farrell, who has been ill several days, is reported as much improved and hopes to be up and about by the time the Thorncliffe meeting in Toronto begins. Harry Hunter, a well-known turf follower, returned from Newark, X. J., where he was called to attend the funeral of his wife, who died suddenly on Friday last. a
