NO INTEREST IN CARLARIS Col. P. T. Chinn Denies Some Rumors Concerning Colt — Coe Didnt Offer 50,000. LLXIXOTOX, Ky.. April 8.— Col. Phil T. Chinn, in an interview given out today, denied that W. P. Coe was the party who offered 50,000 for Carlaris. champion colt. Colonel Chinn said : "Mr. Coe has not offered to buy Carlaris. and I am sure he is only interested in his own colt, Potnpey, with which he hopes to win the Derby. "A lot of people, when they say that I am the real owner or part owner of Carlaris, fail to take into consideration the penalty i inflicted on turfmen who own horses and fail to registe r them in their own name. The penalty in sue-h cases is a forfeit of all the stakes the- horse might win. In other words, if I were the owner or part owner of Carlaris, and he is registere-d in W. T. Andersons name. I would lose- the 0,700 stakes if the owner of the horse that finished set-mid in the- race- could prove that I owned him and registered him in the name of another. The Kentue-ky Joc-kc-y Club and State Racing Commission are very strict in such matte-i s," declared Colonel Chinn.
