UNPROPITIOUS WEATHER Cold and Threat of Rain Fails to Keep Crowd Away From Akron Racing. AKRON, Ohio. April 27- The weather wan old and rain threatened throughout the afternoon, but failed to materialize. The track was in the best condition of the meeting. Silk Sox. was going fastest of all on the outside at the end and would have won in a few more strides. Floy I.illie displacenl Bar light and lUonble for leadership while tounding the far turn, but weakened slightly when the final test came. Ramble displayed rare sameness and came again after appearing to be beaten when entering the stretch. It was the most exciting finish of the meeting. A first time starter. Ransvall. showed the way by a comfortable margin throughout the running of the curtain raiser and returned a liberal price. Ceorge Barer came from far back to beat liilly Dow out of the second money. The certificate refund to show on Hilly Dow, 09.00, was a record for Ohio racing. After disposing of I. T. Rarnum while rounding the far turn. Zoona held the latter safe during the run home in the following race. Stay On closed considerable ground to reach a contending position on the outside at the stn tih turn, where he was call led wide and tired near the end, but was third.
