TRITON A REPEATER Duplicates Recent Victory in Pimlico Home-Bred Stakes. ♦ Beats Polante By a Length After Leading Throughout — Good Day for Form Followers. ♦ ■ PIMLICO, Md., May 7.— Mrs. Walter M. .Teffords Golden Broom colt, Triton, came back after his clever victory in the rimlico Nursery Stakes on the opening day and duplicated that performance when he won the Pimlico Home Bred Stakes at the Old Hill Top course this afternoon. The Pimlico Home Bred Stakes was provided as an attraction by the Maryland Jockey Club this afternoon. The conditions of the sake called for starters to be owned by the breeder and to have been his absolute property since the time of foaling. It was one of the sporting events of the spring meeting here. Triton was ridden by Coltiletti, took the lead soon after the start and set a fast pace. In the early, racing he stalled off challenges from landlord and Polante and entering home stretch drew away into an easy lead which he retained to the end. Polante was second, beaten a length, with Landlord third, another length and a half back. The latter tired badly in the stretch run and was lucky to beat Maid of Orleans by a neck for third place. Besides the purse of ,970, the owner of the winner received a piece of plate. It was a great day for form players, favorites winning the first four races. Bai ing conditions were ideal and a large crowd turned out. Houston was an easy winner in the second race. Outrun by Irish Smile in the early stages. Weiner sent him up with a rush rounding the far turn and just before entering the home stretch he took the lead and in the final eighth drew away to win by a couple of lengths. Golden Box was second, a length in front of Irish Smile. When the start came Irish Smile left the post with a rush and showed a lot of speed the first quarter, but when .the winner caught her she began to tire. Golden Box began very slowly. The Faulconer Stable started a couple of Meriden colts for the first time, Hunter Boy and Buddy Clark. Both are good lookers and reports from the rail birds were that they were above the ordinary. Both ran greenly and were not punished and it may be that they are better than they showed. RIIKM II ASi: TO LOCn AYR. Loch Ayr simply played with his opponents in the Mt. Washington Steeplechase, for which he was a well-backed favorite. He was ridden by C. Crawford, went to the j front when the start came and made all of his own pace. He was in hand the entire way with Crawford repeatedly look-1 ing hack. At no stage did th - result appear in doubt, and at the finish Loch Ayr had a four-length lead over Oyster Bed. Roi Craig was a distant third, tiring badly the last half mile. There were six starters and .the three placc-d horses were the only ones that finished the course. Adamant and Burton II. fell at the twelfth jump, and Bock Sand refused at the thirteenth. Senate started out to make a runaway affair of the third race. Beginning fast, he was rushed to the front at once and in the race around the first turn opened up a gap of two lengths which he increased to five lengths in the back stretch. He tired after they had gone five-eighths and. rounding the far turn, Fred Pubncr moved up fast on the outside. Filtering the home stretch, he bore over against Senate, knocking the latter off his stride, but when straightened out he drew away and at the end had a lead of three lengths and a half. In the final drive Senate outstayed Typecutter and beat him by a length and a half for second place. — m .
