Churchill Down Turf Notes of Interest From Scene of the Kentucky Derby LOUISVILLE Ky May 13 13Willis Willis Sharpe Kilmer was an arrival during the afternoon He will remain to witness the Derby He has an especial interest in the showing of Pompey That crack racer is by Mr Kilmers Sun Briar BriarG G Frank Croissant was an arrival from Chicago with a party of friends He an ¬ nounced tliat Roycrofter would be a starter in the Derby and that he would be ridden by E Scobie ScobieRacing Racing will begin at Churchill Downs on Derby day at 145 p m mMrs Mrs Margaret Emerson Baker proprietor of the Sagamore Stable and owner of the Derby candidate Rock Man arrived Thurs ¬ day dayEdward Edward G Schlieder one of the principal owners with E R Bradley in the Fair Grounds was another notable arrival from the Crescent City Mr Schlieder is tho guest of E R Bradley and will remain until after the running of the Kentucky Derby John P Sullivan also extensively interested in the Fair Grounds is due to arrive Friday from New Orleans and will be the guest oC Mr Bradley BradleyFrank Frank G Hogan came from San Francisco He is making his annual pilgrimage to wit ¬ ness the Kentucky Derby Mr Hogan at one time raced a pretentious stable and had for partners J O Keene and Miller Hender ¬ son Recently Mr Hogan bought an exten ¬ sive tract of land in Oregon where he will ultimately raise thoroughbreds to race in his colors Mr Hogan expressed the belief that a resumption of racing in California is not far distant distantG G Teller Archibald was among the visi ¬ tors His extensive stable will be raced in two divisions during the summer Trainer George Arvin will take one division to Fair mount Park and the veteran George Walker5 will have supervision of the band to bo continued racing in Kentucky and later shipped to New York tracks tracksAl Al Copeland was an arrival from New York to report the Derby for the New York Daily News NewsThe The stewards have appointed two addi ¬ tional patrol judges for the Derby who will be stationed at points determined by tho former formerMr Mr and Mrs John Hertz Mr and Mrs Charles McCullough Mr and Mrs Leonard Florsheim Mr and Mrs Otto Lehman and Mr and Mrs Jack Pea body eonstituUd a notable Chicago party that arrived during the morning to remain until after the Derby running runningSun Sun Tcss which raced for W S Kilmer last winter has been abandoned as a racing tool and will be bred to her owners imported stallion Traumer TraumerT T J Healey and J Maiben trainer and rider of Display respectively have not ar ¬ rived on the scene as yet but will be here early Friday FridayJockey Jockey F Coltiletti who will have a log up on Rock Man in the Derby will also come in from the East Friday FridayA A B Hancock and party will come up from the Blue Grass to view the Derby and will arrive Friday J E Griffith whose Canter will race in the Derby was an arrival with a party tit friends
