Dick Welles Selections SelectionsAt At Aurora ST NICHOLAS MISS 2TAXCT MOVE OX I SETH SETHA A field of limit size is scheduled to go postward for the opener Seventeen were entered here and the limit of ten is almost certain We are picking ST NICHOLAS to take down honors here This racer which carries the colors of C N Freeman put up a good j erformance in his first start here and though finishing out of the money was only beaten a couple of lengths for the first place He possesses plenty of early hoof and may be able to carry his speed long enough to get down in front MISS NANCY is a sprinter of good class and looks about the best thing in the race to cop should ST NICHOLAS prove un ¬ equal to the task She put in a busy winter at Tijuana but proved in her first race here that she is still in trim MOVE ON SETH is one of the most consistent horses in training for getting in the money He rarely wins but is usually close up at the finish He looks like a cinch to show here A3 I EARLY JOSIE HARTMAX BIDDY SHIPP SHIPPThe The last time AMIEARLY and JOSIE HARTMAN met in a race the latter was the winner by a head We think that AM I EARLY is the better filly of the two and in the second race today they meet again We pick the latter to reverse that decision Her record is the more impressive of the two and basing on past performances should be the winner given an equal break BIDDY SHIPP has only been to the races but once and that was at Lexington She demon ¬ strated then that she may be a little above the average for she ran a real good race to be third to Jessie Belle and Aquitania That same effort again today should find her landing in the third position FAST SET has some good races to her credit and if she would run as she did at Tampa may horn in the money at the finish finishBOXXIE BOXXIE LIZIE JAUXEBAR DUST FLOWER FLOWERSome Some fast sprinters are to meet in the third number and another limit size field is ex ¬ pected BONNIE LIZZIE did some good racing at Havana last winter and then con ¬ tinued on her winning way at Huntington Her last race there was a win and we are expecting her to do likewise today It will be her first time out here and if she takes kindly to the track should prove best She will have plenty of company though tliat will make her step JAUNEBAR showed a decided improvement in his last race here and he will take plenty of beating before be ¬ ing declared out When in form this gelded son of Sandbar can hold his own with any of them DUST FLOWER also stands a good chance In her last race here she was well up all the way took the lead in the stretch but could not keep up and as a result fin ¬ ished fifth That race shpuld have done her a lot of good and she can be expected to show much better today todayJACK JACK ALEXANDER MAX BRICK DEEP THOUGHT THOUGHTThe The Mercury Purse a threequarters dash under conditions brings out a fine field and a good race should result We are pinning our hopes on JACK ALEXANDER a winner in his only race here McConnell his owner has all of his charges in fine fettle at thc present and if he has retained that same fit condition will be a hard one to beat in the race MAX BRICK meets company more of his own class here and should give a good account of himself He has a win to his credit over Menifee and Dudley at the last Lexington meeting and that is no small ac ¬ complishment DEEP THOUGHT did not fare so bad in his first appearance here for he made Sanola do her best to beat him That race was all he needed ta put him on edge for todays race and we are looking for him to be close up at the finish SCOOP merely cantered home in his last race here in the mud but dont look for him to go so well should the track remain fast fastGEORGE GEORGE DE MAR DUCKWEED BROWNIE SMILE SMILEThe The feature event on todays card is the Joliet Handicap to be run as the fifth The winner of the Inaugural and Chicago Handi ¬ caps GEORGE DE MAR is entered and while he picks up three pounds over his last start should again prove the winner He scored one of his wins on a fast track and the other in the mud so track conditions mean little to him His last win was not achieved as ecsily as his first but he won and thats all that counts in the end DUCKWEED which ran second to GEORGE in his last start is also entered and if he would run the same kind of a race as he did last Saturday in the Chicago Handicap should again ac dount for the place money BROWNIE SMILE put up a good performance in the Inaugural to finish fourth He was away none to well and after being far back in the early racing came with a rush at the end and was only a little more than two lengths away from the winner at the finish If he shows any improvement at all over that effort think he will be good enough to take down the small end of the purse BOLTON will be making his first start here and one of his good races would find him close up at the windup windupGUS GUS R ALBERT L FRAXK GAILOR GAILORPlay Play GUS R for a repeater is our advice in the sixth a mile dash for platers His last race here was a good one for he led from start to finish and though tiring slightly at the end had plenty left to get the decision by a head Tnat same race today should again find him the winner ALBERT L is the danger in the race he turned in a good performance in his only race here to be winner by a head over Geo Dever and Invictus He seems to be in good form at the present and will take plenty of beating FRANK GAILOR met with a mishap in his last race and as a result was pulled up If he were to get an equal break today think he might prove dangerous He was rather consistent at Tampa and if he races today as he is capable of should be close up at the finish finishBULLET BULLET PROOF GUNNY SACK GOLDEN SWEEP SWEEPThe The veteran BULLET PROOF looks like a good play to prove a repeater in the good night tilt He raced in his old time form Monday an anover over Brotherly Love and Van Patrick by a I four lengths margin GUNNY SACK comes from Columbus with a record of three wins and three seconds in his last six starts at the latter course and at Bowie He is going to prove a tough one to beat here and we cant see how he is going to miss getting the place He runs well on a fast or muddy track also GOEDEN SWEEP should be ncaring winning form and he is the one we like for the show portion of the purse He raced against and beat some good ones at Tijuana and should not find this company too hard for him PRODIGAL is in with a feather and may prove dan ¬ gerous if in any kind of condition One Best Bet AM I EARLY in Second Eace
