MOOSEHEART PURSE Outstanding Feature of Mondays Card at Aurora Boltons Success in It Marks a aDouble Double for Boots Durnell and andJockey Jockey W Stamper AURORA 111 June 7 For the principal attraction at Exposition Park today the Mooseheart Purse was offered and when Bolton showed the way the greater part of the distance to win it marked the second success of the afternoon for C E Boots Durnell and a double for jockey W Stamper StamperStar Star Dust raced in closest pursuit of Bolton at all stages was unable to improve his position but held the others safe at the end Happy Birthday loomed up dangerously mid ¬ way of the stretch racing strongly next the inner rail but he tired when the final test came This trio dominated the running throughout Counsellor Connojly and Brazen outrun in the early stages finished going strongly suggesting that they would be bet ¬ ter suited at a longer route Although the overhead conditions were fa ¬ vorable a gale swept the course from the west greatly impeding the progress of the horses racing up the back stretch The track was in excellent condition and the attend ¬ ance up to the standard for a midweek day This being ladies day the fair sex were pres ¬ ent in large numbers numbersComing Coming from last place after going the first half mile Running Fox rapidly im ¬ proved his position while rounding the top bend and ran over his rivals in the stretch to t handy victory He was much the best Bonfire also finished with a rush from tiehind during the final eighth and headed Arragosa for second in the closing strides Arragosa raced in close quarters until reach1 ing the stretch and can do better Mark Aiirele and Outlawed after showing good early speed quit badly during the run home homeFIKKWATER FIKKWATER IN FJIONT FJIONTAfter After following in closest pursuit of Biddy Shipp arid Colleen C until midway of the stretch in the third race FirewaTer finished gamely and earned a purse for C E Durnell It was only in the last fifty yards however that the Omar Khayyam filly succeeded in wearing down Biddy Shipp Colleen O tired and bore out slightly near the end but was best of the others Arabella ruled favorite but ran out all around the top turn and was never a serious factor factorThe The veteran jockey D Stirling came back to the spotlight piloting his first winner in a long time when Masquerade accounted for the fourth Masquerado drew away into a long lead after rounaing the far turn which lie retained through the stretch run to win easily with Jock all in Stirling was much more tired than the horse after the finish Pud outlasted Golden Sweep for second place itfter the latter had been forced to race wide most of the way Marjorie C was also car ¬ ried out at the first turn Proceeds and Liberty both quit badly in the last quarter after showing early speea BiLsy Bee cut out a fast pace to the stretch In the initial race with Smooth Ice follow ¬ ing At the turn for home Rock Bottom raced up into third position lie continued gamely picked up leaders and nailing Bitsy Bee a sixteenth out eventually drew away to win with much to spare Bitsy Bee offered little resistance when challenged but was best of the others Raj closed much ground to beat the balance home homeKOCKING KOCKING TO TUB FORE FORESecuring Securing clear sailing next the inner rail while racing around the top bend was a con ¬ tributing factor to the success of Rocking in the second race When straightened out in the stretch the Star Master filly disposed of Idle Thoughts carried Gilmore wide dur ¬ ing the final eighth and outgamed the latter at the end Gilmore made a resolute bid in the stretch and was a handy second Idle Thoughts tired when the real test came Sanguine after showing early speed quit to a walk Fehrah refused to start and wheeled as the start came cameIt It remained for the closing race to pro ¬ vide the most exciting finish of the day When jockey Allen brought Gipsy Flyer from the rear in the stretch to nail Runquoi the pacemaker in the final stride This win ¬ ner came from unexpected quarters and returned the longest dividend of the after ¬ noon Missouri Boy held the others safe for third Demijohn was prominent until well into the stretch then retired from the struggle struggleCondition Condition books for the meeting which bpens at Akron on Saturday next arrived h re today and were distributed among the horsemen horsemenJockey Jockey J Roberts was forced to cancel all his engagements today duo to an injury to oritj of his eyes suffered yesterday while Claying ball
