TE WARE FAILS Disappoints Admirers in Fair mount Parks Main Race Fire Under the Winner After Spec tacular Contest with Jubal JubalEarly Early and Bolivar Bond COLLINSVILLE 111 June 7 The Globe Democrat Purse at a mile and seventy yards bringing to the post six of the better grade of platers here was the outstanding contest on an otherwise ordinary program provided for the Fairmount Park patrons It furnished a spectacular contest even if it brought about the complete failure of Granite Ware an outstanding favorite Harned Bros Fire Under was tne winner from Jubal Early with Bolivar Bond in third place Granite Ware displayed high speed for threequar ¬ ters but thereafter he cegan tiring fast and was completely exhausted near the end from his pacemaking efforts in the earlier part of the race raceFire Fire Under was always closest in pursuit of the leader and easily took command WIICM Granite Ware tired and drew away to an easy victory Jubal Early and Bolivar Bond were far out of it for the first quarter Tyler on Bolivar Bond being forced to take his mount completely out of contention after he had raced his mount into a pocket and rode him wide thereafter With better han ¬ dling he might have won wonIDEAL IDEAL RACING CONDITIONS CONDITIONSIdeal Ideal racing conditions prevailed and it was responsible for the generous patronage again in evidence The racing was spirited and the fields consisted in most instances of the cheaper horses Six of the races had tho claiming clause The purse race was for maiden youngsters youngstersItir Itir the first time during the present meet ¬ ing favorites failed in a majority of the races The winners however had consid ¬ erable support The public began auspiciously when Kin ¬ dred in the opener won handily from High j Joy and Battle On Both the latter were grouped in the field Hign Joy showed fine speed for half a mile and it required Kin ¬ dreds best to head her in the last eighth Reward and Sandalwood were given smart consideration in a betting way but they were never strong factors though suffered some interference interferenceMose Mose Lowensteins Little Glory furnished the upset in the second race wnen she won by a short margin from Frances Jane with Equinox in third place Open Hand was the favored one here but after racing closely in pursuit of Little Glory to the stretch gava way and was passed out on the turn by Frances Jane and Equinox Frances Jano might have been the oest here Her rider rode wide all during the last quarter at a big expense of ground to his mount mountLAUREL LAUREL HALL VICTORIOUS VICTORIOUSTen Ten twoyearolds the largest number that has started in any juvenile race here com ¬ prised the field in the fourth race and it resulted in a victory for Laurel Hall over Frank Andrews with Shasta Graney in third place The leading trio dominated the race for the entire way Frank Andrews being the leader with Laurel Hall a close follower until the last eighth where Laurel Hall took command and won handily Frank Andrews held on gamely during the final drive War Grail a well backed one was never formid ¬ able and raced far back of the others othersSam Sam Louis earned his first purse here when his Trapdale grouped with others in the field led eleven others to the finish Jockey Pool rode him energetically and kept him prominent from the start He responded well in the stretch and outstayed Lupine tho pacemaker near the end Stay On coming with a rush in the last eighth just succeeded in wearing down Phyllis Gentry False Face and Shining Gold the choices were beaten off The latter showed a brief flash of speed but was taken back sharply in the first quarter quarterSpats Spats a winner in his preceding start again scored when he was home before eleven oth ¬ ers that started in the sixth race Spats was much the best for he was away slowly and had to race around the others He did so with ease and won well in hand Triplett raced prominently for the entire distance and made a game effort but tired some near the end The surprise in the race was Garr He showed much improved form and held on long enough to outstay Post Mistress for third place Triplett was claimed by K Median at a cost of 51500 51500The The concluding number furnished a iff upset by the victory of Marsdale and the total failure of Lew Pope Marsdale was home in advance of Chemiserie with Meru lina in third place The first two closed big gaps and drew out in the stretch Lew Pope after racing prominently to the lower turn began swerving out and Pools effort to restrain him from doing so was feeble He dropped completely out of it in the stretch Marsdale paid his supporters more to show than he did to those who had backed him
