STAKES FOR CONEY ISLAND Cincinnati Derby, with 5,000 Added, Among the Features to Be Renewed. CINCINNATI, Ohio, June 23.— Stakes to be renewed during the coining second annual meeting at Coney Island, which opens on Thursday, July 22, and continues for thirty days, were announced here today by William Halpin. general manager of the Coney Island Jockey Club. Foremost of the ten valuable features is the second running of the Cincinnati Derby of 5,000 added for three-year-olds at one and one-quarter miles. Scale weights will prevail and the race will be run on Saturday, July 24. This is the only stake date decided upon by Coney Island officials. Other important events, each of which carries ,000 in added money, scheduled for renewal at the local track are: Cincinati Handicap for three-year-olds and upward, three-quarters mile. Jimmie Stakes, for two-year-old fillies, five and one-half furlongs. Commercial Tribune Handicap, for three-year-olds and upward, one and three-sixteenth miles. Cincinnati Times-Star Handicap, for three-year-olds and upward, one and one-sixteenth miles. Queen City Club Stakes, for two-year-old colts and geldings, five and one-half furlongs. Cincinnati Post Handicap, for three-year-olds and upward, one mile and seventy yards. Cincinnati Knquirer Handicap, for three-year-olds and upward, one and one-eighth miles. Hotel Sinton Stakes, fur two-year-olds, three-quarters of a mile. Cincinnati Free Press Handicap, for all ages, three-quarters of a mile. Kntries to the stakes will close on July 3 and dates for the running of the events will be announced within a short time.
