« j AQUEDUCT TURF NOTES NEW YORK. K. Y.. June 24. W. Marsters, who rode Erne II. In the steeplechase, was fined fifty dollars for not riding his mount out at the finish. The reason for Marsters being content with second place instead of first was that a stable-mate, Brantome. was winning, but the fine was imposed because of the fact that no winning declaration had been made. A. Fred earned a fine when he named Melmor, a four-year-old, for a Friday race programmed for three-year-olds exclusively. J. S. Stotler has decided to freshen up the Sagamore Stables three-year-old Rock Man and he will not be seen under colors until Saratoga. Refore the races George Conway brought out American Flag, Crusader and Dress Parade and each was put through his paces. He had waited until the- track had dried out considerably over its condition earlier in the morning. Crusader and Dress Parade went along and it was a move in preparation for the Dwyer. the mile and a half prize-to be decided July £. American Flag came out later, and his was a final for the Brookdale Handicap to t»e run Saturday. He. like the three-year-olds, was under a stiff restraint to cover a mile in 1 :42*£. The fractions were :2f», :50, 1 :1C. 1:42%. He was so eager to run that difficulty was had in pulling him up at the end of the gallop, and he showed a greater eagerness than has been usual in his trials this year. Among yesterdays visitors was Reonard Sutcliffe, of Rexington. well known photographer of horses, who is making pictures of the various studs in the Kast and Virginia. He goes to the latter state in a few days to picture some of the blooded stock at the Jones. Walker and Kilmer establishments. R. Castro claimed Nora Hayes for ,500 out of the fifth, which was won by the French-bred Caporal II.. a son of Mon General oat of Ra Mode, by Ajax. who once carried the colors of his breeder. Pierre Wertheimer. Nora Hayes wasnt in the money. The winner is trained by John Hastings, who has won a lot of races with platers i his spring. H. Crosier claimed Zero Hour for ,500; J. E. Hankins claimed Delegate far ,500. and William BeBeck, Gladstone, for ,500. .
