ANOTHER FOR CENTIMETER Son of Meelick Races to Best Form to Take Omaha Bee Purse, Ak-Sar-Bens Feature. OMAHA. Neb., June 21.. W. M. Clem, who has won his share of purses with his small string at tl*s meeting; added another to his list this afternoon, when Centimeter defeated a good hand in the Omaha Bee Purse, which was the days main attraction. The winner was well ridden by jockey Smith and. although he began slowly, soon dashed to first place and held that position without much difficulty to the end. This son of Meelick is in the best condition of his career at present, and it will take a good horse to defeat him in sprint races. The March-hank star Jord Julian raced to second place by a strong stretch rush, and Eizette took third honors with a powerful finish. The crowd was of average week day proportions, and the weather ideal for the sport. Rove Pirate led for most of the journey in the opener. She outstarted the others and led into the stretch, where she was headed by the favorite, Karonga. hut gamely hold to her task under Moores persevering ride and was rewarded by a nose victory. Had Mazoue on Karonga ridden as energetically as Moore, his mount might have won. hut he apparently gave up when he had a slight advantage, thinking his mount good enough to carry him home. Time and Tide was third. Some good sprinters met In the second race, and Don K.. which has been threatening for some time, was winner. Belle H. set the pace to the last sixteenth, where the winner collared her and won going away. Cornflower was third, with Riviera, the favorite, unplaced. i Doctor Blues was favorite in the third race, and he made good by making a strong stretch run. He was close to Little Hope, the pacemaker in the early stages, passed him when ready and held Supervisor, the second horse. Pop Ryan was third. One of the biggest upsets of the meeting came with the running of the fourth race, in which Rugs was installed a prohibitive favorite. Rugs ran a bad race and failed to get any part of the purse, while the despised Miss Rane was winner and left no doubt as to her superiority. She was close to the pace from the beginning and, catching El Mirasol in the stretch, drew away to win by three lengths. She paid 0.00 for .00. El Mirasol was second and Forty Two third. Two claims were lodged in this race. R. Kmmert taking Forty Two for ,000. and Griffin and Kdwards securing l.ugs for a like amount. As the field was rounding the first turn in this race. The Colonel stumbled and fell, throwing jockey LaMUay to the ground, and he was carried from the track.
