~ —3 1 NEW YORK TURF NOTES t e — _ 4 NEW YORK, N. Y., April 2. J. Simon Healy was one of the trainers who deserted the Metropolitan district to enjoy the opening day at Bowie. Healy has only four of his charges at Bowie. Clyde Phillips turned over the Bowie division of the Greentree Stable to Roy Waldron and will remain at Belmont Park, where the greater part of the establishment is now in its permanent quarters. Phillips is pointing; Adios for the Preakness. The only Kentucky Derby eligible at Belmont Park displaying a serious effort Friday was Terry, owned by Sim Harris and trained by Max Hirch. This good colt was breezed one mile in 1 :50%. He was trying to go faster, but was under restraint all the way. "Pony" McAtee will arrive at Belmont Park Monday and will get busy immediately with the horses in George Odoms stable. Jockeys Thurber and Finn have been doing most of the exercising of the stables stars since the opening of the outdoor training season. McAtee has been at Hot Springs. Ark., since he stopped riding in Florida. Vincent Powers had Jolly Roger out today for a teng gallop on the flat. The Greentree Stables jumper is fit and ready and he has been clearing the hedges in fine form. Powers is highly pleased with the condition shown by the fencer that won conspicuously in the jumping events last year. •
