GOLDEN SIGHT IMPROVING Levine Colt Shows Good Speed Over Seven -Eighths of Mile in Workout. LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 29.— Golden Sight, owned by R. Levine the Chicago turfman, turned in the best Derby trial at Churchill Downs this morning, when he galloped seven-eighths in 1 :30% after going the first half in :48M; and first three-quarters in 1:15. The son of Golden Guinea — Unseen had something in reserve and shows steady improvement in his workouts. Royal Julian was the only other prominent candidate to gallop a route, going the full Deroy distance in 2:16%. His fractional time was :26, :53, 1 :22. 1 :50 for the first mile. Nick Burger had the Grant-owned colt under restraint for the entire distance. Osmand, Kiev and other three-year-olds in the Widener Stable, were cantered once around the track, being sent back to their stalls immediately after the conclusion of their limbering exercises. There was much activity among the older division, Roycrofter and Kentucky Cardinal, candidates for the Clark Handicap to be run on opening day at the Churchill Downs meeting, Saturday, May 7, worked a fast three-quarters in 1:14% together. They ran the first quarter in :23Vs. three-eighths in :35Vs. and half-mile in :48%. San Itar, J. W. Corrigans imported horse, which won the Clark Handicap last year, galloped a half-mile in :49. Backbone and Flat Iron, the Green Briar Stables eligibles for the handicap, worked together for a mile, which they ran in 1 :48. They got to the quarter post in :24%, half in :49, and three-quarters in 1 :lj. Mary O, the K. B. Elkins mare which ran a mile in 1 :36, and repeated her performance a few days later, negotiated a mile and one-eighth in 1 :58%. King Nadi galloped a half-mile in :~ 0. He is in excellent condition and his trainer, Roscoe Troxler, is keeping him in good form.
