J. FRED A. SCORES AGAIN ♦ Repeat Recent Performance To Win Tarreytown Pnrse. • Kentucky Il.e Second Victory Not So Impressive — Another for A. C. Bostwick — Easy for Long Joe. « HAVRE DK GRACE, Md . April 29.-J. Fred A., which beat the Whitney horse. Reminder, on Tuesday last, came back w;th another winning performance this afternoon when he won the Tai reytown Purse, a dash of a mile and 70 yards. This race was provided as the main attraction and it brought together a well-balanced field. J. Fred A. was ridden by O. Bourassa, wae a well-backed favorite, led from the start, and although tiring at the end, lasted lone; enough to win by a head. Harry Baker, the runner-up throughout, was a length in front of Devonshire. The winner was bred and raised in Baltimore county and has always raced in the colors of his breeder. Dr. J. Fred Adams. Light showers fell this morning and the going was good for the first four races and became faster as the afternoon progressed and fast-track conditions prevailed for the running of the last three races. The imported three-year-old. Kentucky II., evidently is not the colt many credited him with being. He won again this afternoon, scoring his second victory at the meeting, but he was hard pressed by Guerdon to beat the latter by a head. Kentucky II. made all of his own pace, but was tiring at the finish. At the top of the home stretch Horvath, on Guerdon, tried to come through first on the inside and then changed his mind and came to the outside of the leader. In doing this he took his mount up, which probably cost him the race and he was charging Kentucky II. at the end. Horvath claimed a foul, but it was not allowed. Colored Servant made a runaway of the first race, a dash of four and a half furlongs for two-year-olds. "Sonny" Workman had the mount and he lost no time in taking the lead and, when once in front, remained there. At the end. Colored Servant was tiring and Workman was forced to get busy on him to beat Reprove a half length. The latter closed with a splendid effort and shook off Fire Fairy in the last sixteenth. A field of fifteen went to the post in this race and a long delay ensued due to the antics of Lucie Ann. When they were finally dispatched, Lucie Ann reared and was off in a tangle. BUXNYKIXS MAKES GOOD. Young Jim Healy has the A. C. Bostwick horses in splendid shape this spring and up to date he has a clean score. In the race for three-year-old maidens this afternoon Bunnykins carried the Bostwick colors and made good by outstaying the Audley Farms Alice McLuke by a half length in a driving finish. Alice McLuke began fast, going to the front with a rush and racing into a commanding lead in the first eighth. She looked to have the race won after they had gone half a mile, but in the stretch she tired and Bunnykins caught and passed her in the last eighth. Bunnykins is the third horse that the Bostwick stable has started at the meeting and all of them— King Solomons Seal. The Pine and Bunnykins; — have won. Long Joe was an easy winner in the third race. Fishman never made a move on hira until rounding the far turn, where he went to the front and, in the stretch, drew away into a commanding lead. He had a four lengths margin over Dexter at the finish and the latter was a length in front of the poorly ridden John W. Weber. Mann eased the latter up on the back stretch and then took him to the outside. There was an accident during the running of this race when Tipperary Mary fell at the three-eighths post and Eda C. stumbled over her and unseated her rider. J. Walker, who had the mount on the latter, escaped unharmed. Workman came out of the mixup with a broken collar bone. When Tipperary Mary fell she turned a complete somersault and, landing on her head, broke her neck. Workmans injuries will keep him out of the saddle for a few weeks. Sparkling Water was claimed out of the second race by J. M. Murphy for ,500. Over Fire was claimed out of the seventh race yesterday by F. A. Tansor for $.5,000.
