Start good and slow. Won easily: second and third driving. MARIE BLANCHE II. showed the most speed from he start, raced THE I.PRB into defeat in the stretch, and won with speed in reserve. JOE SWEEP, close up from the start, came wide when entering the stretch, but finished well. I.OVEKEN was bumped aliout after the start and knocked hack, then worked his way up on the outside and finished fast through the stretch. OPT STEP was rushed into third place from a slow beginning, but tired in the final eighth. PHILIPS FIRST rau well THE I.URE quit badly. Scratched— 1 1486Partake. 110; 12684 Charm. 114. CHEOPS followed the early lead under restraint and was roused up slightly after entering the stretch. then passed COLOJHSL SETH into the lead and drew away into a safe lead to win easing up. SANDY. under stout restraint for the first half mile, came on the inside after rounding the stretch turn, then came to the outside in the final eighth and finished fast on his own courage. COLONEL SETH showed the most early speed and saved ground on the turns, but tired badly. FLBCHITA began in a tangle and closed a gap. BRIGHT STEEL lacked early speed. Scratched— 08972 McAuliffe. 113. THE VINTNER, away well, showed much speed from the start, but ran out slightly in the stretch, then tired. WILD ASTER was close up all the way and had no mishaps. PHEASANT finished resolutely. IlRKDOG ran well. BALDPATE came again at the end. IRISH STAR dropped back at the start. AMBER.IAt K slipped through on the inside on the first turn into a safe lead and set a fast pace under restraint, but tired in the final eighth. CHERRY 1MB improved his position steadily ami outfinished OCR liENERAL at the end. The latter l»-gan slowly, but saved ground entering the stretch and fin. shed resolutely.
