DEATH TAKES NOTED RIDER LOCLSVILLE. Ky. May .",. — Edwaid "Eddie" Ellis. 51 years old. and thirty years ago considered one of the leading Jockeys of the country, died at a local hospital this morning. Death was due to pneumonia. Ellis, developed by II. E. Leah, of Canada, later passed into the employ of C. E. Dumell and attained the heights of his career while iid-ing for the late Edwatd tVrrigan. He retired from the saddle about fifteen years ago and had worked at intervals since that time in the mutuel departments at the Kentucky tracks. Surviving are his widow. Mrs. Mary Ellis, his father. Edward Ellis, of Rochester, N. Y., one brother and four sisters. The body will be taken to Frankfort, I Ly., for burial.
