At Bowie One Best Bet — MALLY JANE — In the Fourth Race. , J « I | I ! . i. : , I , . i ; r f 3 t , . » 1 * f . " 1 f ■ e 1 An ordinary weekday card has been scheduled by the racing secretary at Princes Georges Park today. The program offered compose:: six claiming racing and one claiming handicap. Some interesting contests are expected, however, for the platers entered in the various races are rather evenly matched. The feature has been named the Midway Handicap, and it calls for a contest over the one mile and a sixteenth distance. An evenly matched band of three-year-olds will parade to the post in the fifth race. They will try conclusions over the one mile and seventy yards distance. ONCORA— KIND WORDS-ERA. The good filly ONCORA seems much the best of the band of two-year-olds scheduled to open the days program. She has not been worse than second in all of her races and, on the speed she showed during her Havana campaign, looks all over the best of this field. KlriD WORDS raced well at Jeffer- son Park and he seems to be not far from his best form. He should prove a strong contender in this race. ERA, on the way he won his last two races at Oriental Park, figures to finish up with the leaders. CARE FREE— APPELLATE-SIR BARLEY. For the winner of the second race we are taking the good plater CARE FREE. The old gelding is one of the best of the plater division and, the manner in which he has been burning up the track in his morning trials, he seems to have lost none of his old time speed. We look for him to give a good account of himself here. APPELLATE rates next best. In both of his starts at Havana the past winter he was returned the winner. On those efforts he figures to finish close to CARE FREE. SIR BARLEY rounded into his best form at New Orleans. He may take plenty of beating here. MOLLIE ELIZABETH— ANCIENT MARINER—KENTUCKY COLONEL. MOLLIE ELIZABETH, on her race the other day in which she lost only by a head decision to Balai dOr, has to be given the call over the band of maidens that will race in the third number. She is getting weight off from that race, and this may be the needed advantage for her to be home the winner. ANCIENT MARINER figures to i cause MOLLIE ELIZABETH the most trouble. He turned in a creditable race in the Inaugural Handicap here and has to improve but slightly over that effort to prove a strong contender. KENTUCKY COLONEL i may be good enough to take down the short end of the purse. MALLY JANE— THE FRESHMAN-EUPHRATES. The mare MALLY JANE seems to be well placed in the fourth race. She was a trifle short in her first race but, as the distance today will be more to her liking, we look for her to prove the easiest winner of the day. She is getting weight off, and this should help her in accomplishing her task. THE FRESHMAN raced well in his first start and seems to be not far off from winning form. He should prove a contender in this field for the distance and weight seem in his favor. EUPHRATES was the one to follow Rejuvenation home the other day. On that raee he figures to land some part of the purse. SLEEPY TIME— PAPRIKA— BLUE FLAG. G. C. Winfreys SLEEPY TIME may be the one to lead the band of three-year-olds home in the fifth race. He turned in a good race behind Fire Fairy Wednesday and he needs but to race back to that effort to take this field into camp. PAPRIKA had a rather successful campaign at Havana and, as he is a seasoned racer, has to be given a good chance for some part of the purse. BLUE FiAG figures best of the others for the short end of the coin. FIREDOG— JUST FOLKS— SIR GLEN. The sixth race brings a large field of platers from the older divisions to the post, with FIREDOG getting the call for the winners share of the purse. He is in his best form at present and a race in his true style should find him leading this band to the wire. JUST FOLKS, though unplaced in hi_ first start here, turned in a good race. He may have needed that race and we look for him to give FIREDOG the most argument today. SIR GLEN, on his workouts, holds a chance to finish amo..g the placed horses of the race. VALENTINO— WORMWOLD— MAXIE. The concluding race looks like the spot for VALENTINO to score. He has been training well and, as he takes a liking to this track, we look for him to make his first start of the year a winning one. WORMWOLD, on his Havana races, figures next best. A race at his best should find him up fighting it out with the leaders. MAXIE may be the one to fill the three-hole. He has been turning in some fast morning trials and appears just about ready.
