TESTING THE JARVIS GATE LEXINGTON, Ky.. April 20.— The Jarvis starting gate, which arrived here several days ago and which will he used for the first time tomorrow when the start of the third race will be made out of it, was brought into service for the schooling of horses this morning. It had a number of satisfactory trials under the direction of "Tex" Jarvis. designer of the device, and "Ruby" White, one of stater W. H. Hamiltons assistants. The machine attracted wide interest, with the result that its initial usage was before a large gallery of horsemen, jockeys, enthusiasts and officials of the local track. A number of starts were effected, all with good results.
