■ a "BELMONT PARK NOTES • — § NEW YORK, N. Y., May 22. Ray Ruddy, which carried the colors of J. EL Caffney Monday in the sixth race at Belmont Park, was claimed by the B. B. Stable for ,000. Mrs. Ina Devoin. of California, a newcomer to racing, has purchased from Victor Vivadou, the horses Watkinson, Salta, Boy-ard and two others. They will be trained by Clarence Turner. Watkinson, which was fired in California, will ba placed in training next week. T. Quinlan, at private terms, has sold the imported horse LAine to Mrs. G. H. Abbott. J. Simon Healy will leave for Toronto for a few days. 1retense, from the Rappahanock Stable, will be on the shelf for several days. A shoe-boil burst during the running of the fifth race yesterday. Trainer Hastings stated that the same ailment kept her from the races last summer. The funeral services for Abe Kemper were held at Campball Funeral Church yesterday. The remains were cremated at the Fresh Pond Crematory in Queens. The services were attended by hundreds of friends of the deceased. Bud Stotler returned from Louisville, accompanied by jockey P. Walls. He reported that Don Q. shipped in good shape. J. Bej-shak, his apprentice rider, who underwent an operation for appendicitis at Baltimore, has practically recovered. Stotler has given the boy his permission to ride outside mounts this season. Cold Bet was claimed out of the first race by the Dwyker stable for ,000. R. McNamee, who rode My Boy Friend in the first race, and S. Rose, who was astride lold Bet in the same race, were suspended for ten days by starter Cassidy.
