LADY BASIL passed the leader and raced into a good lead after going three-eighths, but was hard ridden to retain it through the stretch. HONEST began fast, set the early pace, then was parsed, but came gamely through the stretch and finished well. ADA ADLER raced well for the entire way and finished gamely. JACK RABBIT began slowly and gradually improved his position. FLYING EMBERS tired. RAY met with interference in the first quarter and was far back afterwards. CIMMERIAN was always outrun. CLASSY came through on the inside when approaching the stretch turn and quickly raced into a good lead, which she held to the end. RUFE MeCLAIN began slowly, but closed a gap and finished fast. BOWLER, close up from the t-tart. was forced wide on the last turn and began tirin-r. LA PALOMA was going fast in the final eighth. BOBBY BASIL tired. ENTHUSIASTIC EDWARD was saved close up under strong restraint to the final three-eighths, where he quickly passed CLEORA into a long lead and won in a canter. CLEORA raced into the lead after going the first quarter, but, although finishing well, could not withstand the winner. TANGRAM saved mm h ground on the tot turn rnd finished well. PATUXANT raced in closest early pursuit and, taking the lead when nearing the stretch, held it stubbornly to out finish PANDOSTO. The latter raced lose up for the first quarter and made a fast finish after reaching the stretch. DRONE closed a big gap after racing on the extreme outside for the first half mile. CHEROKEE LEE dwelt slightly at the start and was taken back repeatedly. FAIRY-MAN met interference when racing forwnrdly. GEORGE McCRANN tired. MYSTERIOUS was done aft"r going three-quarters. Won driving; second and third the same. ■ASTER STOCKINGS took a big load at once, but was strongly restrained after going three-eighths and. after drawing away on the last turn, began bearing out while she outstayed PINK LILT. The latter raced forwordly from the start and lost ground through the stretch, where she made a game challenge. REVERIES GAL began tiring after going throe-quarters and was lucky to be third. WELL TURNED was in close quarters to the stretch, where she came wide, then finished resolutely and was wearing the winner down. JEFF ONEIL showed speed and came fast in the stretch. BONOBY saved much ground. MY WORD ran a good race. JUNIOR C. lost his rider and ran away a mile before the race, but showed early speed, then tired in the stretch. PRINCE CHARLES, well ridden, saved ground while following in close pursuit and, responding well, raced into a good lead after seven-eighths and held it to the finish. MANZANA bad the most early speed, saved ground and held on resolutely in the final drive. PRIDE moved up fast after a half mile. but lost ground in the stretch. TIRZA was raced wide throughout and tired in the final drive. FIRE UNDER was done after seven -eight lis. VALENCE quit. PRETTY RUN and CLOVER CLUB quit badly.
