] J . ; ■ RECORD FIELD FOR DERBY ;Ohio State Derby Attracting Attention of Owners — Schorr Nominates Silverdale. CLEVELAND, Ohio, May 29.— The Ohio State Derby, which will be run June 22, promises to have a record field. This years ruTining will mark the fifth time this fixture was contested for. Black Gold, Willwick, Boot to Boot and Sunfire were the previous winners. E. R. Bradley today nominated Bootland and Buttered Toast for the Derby. Bradley won this Derby in 1926 with Boot to Boot. Johnny Schorr nominated Silverdale and Port Harlem for E. B. McLean. Silverdale has won his last four starts and is a son of the Porter from Margaret Ogden by Ogden. The Bainbridge Park management sent word to The Thoroughbred Horsemans Association stating that if that association wished to have one percent of the purses deducted for the members it was at liberty to do so at Bainbridge. The Bainbridge management will be glad to put the matter before the horsemen and if they care to stand for the deduction the Bainbridge officials will do all in their power to collect for the association. Hal Booker was an arrival from New York today with three horses headed by the fleet filly Acquire. Benny Creech today requested condition books and Derby nomination blanks to be sent to him by Julius Reeder, racing secretary for Bainbridge. Budy Wingfield and his four assistant starters, Tex. Reid, Geo. Ray, Eddie Preesey and John Alley, have been doing excellent work with the barrier. The Waite gate is not being used at Bainbridge, as reported.
